The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is a public university created in 1968 and mostly located inthe UAB campus in Cerdanyola del Vallès. The university consists of 57 departments in the experimental, life, social and human sciences, spread among 13 faculties/schools. All these centres together award a total of 85 qualifications in the form of first degrees, diplomas, and engineering degrees. Moreover, almost 80 doctoral programs, and more than 80 other postgraduate programs are offered. UAB has more than 40,000
students and more than 3,600 academic and research staff.

The Ecology Unit of the UAB was pioneer in the introduction of the terrestrial ecology studies in Catalonia and Spain, with almost 40 years of research and expertise in forest ecology, forest management and global change in the Mediterranean.

In LIFE MIDMACC, UAB supports CREAF in the design, implementation and monitoring of the adaptation measures of forest management and maintenance with extensive livestock farming in Catalonia. Moreover, UAB contributes to the upscaling tasks and landscape changes analysis, to the project monitoring and management tasks and to the creation and maintenance of the map of actors and Catalan Regional Committee.
